In response to this year’s theme Ride or Die and its connection to the 80th anniversary of FAMU, we reflected on what a free and emotional ride evokes for us — one filled with energy, but also exhaustion, much like life itself. A ride that has undoubtedly accompanied everyone who has been part of FAMU on the journey toward this milestone.
For us, this initiation took the form of a roller coaster — a symbol of joy, fear, euphoria, and the continuous act of pushing one’s own limits.
In the following presentation, we introduce the development of a concept in which graphics and color express the euphoria and dynamism of a roller coaster, a principle we also integrated into the logo itself.
In contrast, the illustrative photographs reference exhaustion and the opposing emotional state that adrenaline can provoke — an inseparable part of the Ride or Die ethos. Together, these elements represent emotional fluctuations, changes in elevation, and unexpected shifts in direction.
Freedom, speed, movement, emotion — embodied as an Emotional Rollercoaster.
